As you can see from the photos below, once again the sun came out for the West Beach over 70s Garden Party held on Sunday 19 July. The day went off without a hitch, starting at 9am when the male members of the committee turned up with all the tables and chairs, being told “…right a bit, no, left, over here, no, not there…” only to then disappear and return at noon by which time the “girls” made up of committee members and volunteer residents had prepared the food.
By noon everything’s ready, residents start arriving and enjoy the company of friends and neighbours along with smoked salmon sandwiches, a strawberry cream tea, followed by the usual team quiz. By 4pm everyone gone’s, well fed and happy. We all agreed the party had once again been a great success and look forward to the next one, our fifth.
If you’re a West Beach over 70 resident, please do join us next time.
One of our oldest residents, Joan, passed away the week before the party. What a shame Joan was unable to wait until October when she would have reached her century and received that all important letter from the Queen. We will all remember her fondly. The picture here below is Joan at last year’s Garden Party, and above, friends and neighbours raised a glass to her on the day.
